Bridging psychology and AI for safer mental health care
In my work outside the therapy room, I’m focused on the frontiers of psychology, mental health, and technology, with a particular interest in the safety and real-world effectiveness of AI in clinical care.
I began this work in 2023 at the Brooklyn-based startup One Fact Foundation, where I was first exposed to emerging AI tools for mental health. Since then, I’ve studied the digital health market, interviewed psychologists and other clinicians, and examined how AI can meaningfully support practitioners, organizations, and the people they serve.
As we (with collaborator, Dr. Hassan Rezaee) wrote in our article on the risks of AI in clinical practice for Psychologie Québec, the magazine of the Order of Psychologists of Québec:
Psychologists are particularly well placed to promote the safe adoption of AI tools in mental health and to optimize outcomes, as well as to take part in AI development and provide expert, critical evaluation of its growing role.
If you’re an organization, media outlet, or founder working in digital mental health or exploring the future of psychology and AI, I’d be glad to collaborate, whether that’s helping you interpret the evidence, provide clinical insights on current trends, or translate research insights into safe, effective products and stories.
